Activities & Programmes

Aistear

Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years. The word Aistear translates from Irish as journey. This name was chosen for the curriculum framework as early childhood marks the beginning of children’s lifelong learning journeys (www.ncca.ie). Aistear promotes thematic approach to learning through structured play.

Ready Set Go Maths

This Maths programme enables the children to explore mathematical concepts and language through fun, hands-on and practical lessons. Special attention is given to sorting, patterns, relationships and operations, counting, and understanding number. The children work together in pairs and in small groups with a teacher guiding the practical activities.

Green Schools Programme

We are participating in the Green Schools programme. This is an international, environmental programme designed to raise awareness about the environmental issues that impact on our schools, homes as well as the world around us. We have already received our 1st Green Flag for Litter and Waste and our 2nd Green Flag for Energy. We are now aiming to achieve our 3rd Green Flag for Water (Conservation).

The children are active members on the Green Schools committee and it is their ideas, hard work and commitment that enable us to achieve our green flags.

You can find out more about the Green School Programme here.
