Hi 6th class! Today is your last day in Marshalstown N.S. I can hardly believe it! I remember you all as little 4 & 5 year olds starting in Junior Infants. Some of you joined our school a little later but you all settled in well and made our 6th class 2020 what it is. I hope you have enjoyed your time in Marshalstown N.S. and have many happy memories to look back on. They mightn’t seem very important now but believe me, as time goes on they will become more so.
We, the teachers, have taught you to the of our abilities, encouraged you, fostered your interests and talents and watched you grow into the wonderful young people. You are a credit to your parents, families, school and parish and we wish you the very best as you move on to secondary school.
I would like to say thanks to your parents too, who have been working with you on your your school work at home since we closed in March and to your teacher Ms.C Mc Carthy who have worked hard all year as has prepared you extremely well for secondary school.
This year has been a challenge for everyone but we will come through it together and hopefully learn from the experience.
Have a lovely summer break and we will meet in a few weeks for our rescheduled Confirmation ceremony. We will also arrange to meet on another day in the school grounds so we can see each other again and say goodbye in person. I will send out details later.
Until then stay safe and well, looking forward to seeing you all again soon,
Michelle O Neill
Principal.
