Autumn adventures!

Junior and Senior Infants have been super busy learning all about Autumn and the changes we see during this beautiful season. We created our wonderful art work using cotton buds. We also worked hard in Science and we learned all about planting. We designed faces on our potatoes and placed cotton wool and cress inside the hole in our potatoes. We can’t wait until our potato people grow hair at home. Happy Autumn everyone!

Junior Infants-from acorns to little trees!

Junior Infants are very proud of their horse chestnut trees and how they have grown. They cannot wait to bring them home and plant them in their gardens! 🙂

Junior Infant Action Day for Travel!

Junior Infants had a very busy day on Wednesday. It was our WOW day and it also kick-started our action day for our Travel flag. They began their day by ‘parking n’ striding’ from the church up to the school. They ate some healthy fruit when they arrived to school. They then walked the yellow route with Nicola from the Irish Heart Foundation. This walk is part of our Sli @ School walking routes.

After break, they took part in a wonderful presentation all about the sights and sounds on our journey to school. They did this with Senior Infants and Edwina our travel officer. They then learned about the history of the bike. They also learned all about the Safe Cross Code as well as the song and dance!

They finished off their day by colouring different modes of transport and colouring footprints to represent our carbon footprint.

They had a wonderful action day and WOW launch and are so excited about getting our Travel flag next year! Click on the photos for a closer look 🙂

Junior Infants get creative!

Junior Infants have been very busy today learning about Halloween. Today we used our musical skills of listening and responding to sketch our responses to the song “The Witch Rides”.

Junior Infants go farming!

This month the Junior Infants are down on the farm. In construction, we are building a farm from our wonderful happy architect set. In sand, we are busy ploughing fields to get ready for the harvest. The role play area are very busy working on the farm. They are tending to the animals in the field who have had a tricky few days because of the snow. The playdoh area are making farm animals and machinery. We love farm life here in Junior Infants even though some roads have been blocked because of the snow and treacherous conditions!
