Thank you everyone!

Congratulations to all the children in Marshalstown NS who helped to raise money for Sports for Schools. This money will also help to buy some sports equipment for our school. Thank you so much to everyone who donated money. Below is just a very small selection of some of the children from our school who helped to raise money. Thank you everyone and well done!

Soccer Star comes to Marshalstown!

Last Wednesday we were very fortunate to receive a special visitor to Marshalstown NS, captain of Ireland’s Paralympic Soccer team Gary Messett. Gary has represented Ireland since 2004. After suffering a stroke when he was just 2 years old, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He started his career as a five-year-old with St Fergal’s FC, eager not to let his disability hinder his dreams of representing Ireland. Gary led his side to a European Bronze medal in Summer 2018.

Gary was promoting the importance of being active to the children and every class took part in a fitness circuit class. Gary also shared his own personal story of how he overcame the many obstacles in his path to achieve his dreams and gave an inspirational assembly with powerful messages about grit, resilience and determination, with the core message being that the children and teachers should never let a disability or a disadvantage stop them from reaching their goals.
Everyone really enjoyed Gary’s visit. Click on the photos for a closer look at all of the action! 🙂
