Proclamation Day

Yesterday we held our Proclamation Day at Marshalstown NS. Fr McDonald was our MC for the morning, and was ably assisted by Kathleen Kenny from 5th Class, while Helena Dunbar provided the musical accompaniment for our singers, tin whistle players and Irish dancers. Several 5th and 6th Class children, Niall, Zoe, Dylan, Odhran, Michael, Tara and Caoimhe read the 1916 Irish Proclamation and Conor Doyle then read his 2016 Proclamation for the school. We were also lucky enough to have a real artefact from 1916. Conor and Katie Doyle displayed a sword that their great grandfather had used during the Rising in Boland’s Mills.

Frank Murphy, from the FCA, raised the Tricolour along with Kacey from Junior Infants and Craig from 6th Class.

Michelle O’ Neill, Tom Murphy, grandfather of the Odhran, Tomas and Tiarnan Tyrell, and Ger Nolan then planted a tree to commemorate the occasion.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted in organising the morning and special thanks to the Parents Association for organising the refreshments.

Credit Union Champions!

Well done to the U11 and U13 Table Quiz teams who took part in the Enniscorthy Table Quiz recently. The U13 team comprised of Fiachra Busher, Tara Greenwood, James Byrne, Naoise O’ Leary, Connor Walsh, Fionn O’ Leary, Conor Doyle and Michael Ivers from 5th and 6th Class while the U11 team comprised of Caoimhe Busher, Nathan Kelly, Brian Lett and Odhran Tyrell.

Both teams did very well but the U11 team did exceptionally well, coming 3rd in their category. Well done everyone!

Guess who?

There was great excitement in school last week when the children dressed up as their favourite fictional character. Can you identify some of these characters from the pictures?
