Please have a read through our wonderful Autumn 2025 issue of Wild at School.
We recently had a wonderful Viking day in Marshalstown when Vikings arrived in our school! Patrick Dunne and his fellow Viking Re-enactors set up in a classsroom and provided a wonderful display of all things Viking!! They had samples of weaponry, clothing , food and crafts and taught the children all about the amazing history of the Viking Era. Patrick, is a member of the group Deise Medieval who travel all over Ireland and Europe to perform in Viking re-enactments. The students had a marvellous time and all classes enjoyed the event. Many thanks to Patrick and his group for a super day. Enjoy the photos!

Hi everyone,
We had a great ‘Action Day’ lately for our ‘Green Schools Litter and Waste – Global Citizenship’ -project work. This year we are focusing on giving to Ghana. This is work that we are doing which links in with the sustainable development goal- no poverty. We contacted the Irish charity Crosscause, founder Conor Hughes , who came to our school to collect old school tables, chairs and and school books to deliver to primary schools in Ghana. Children from all classes donated items for the charity and fifth class worked hard on the day sorting and helping to load the van. Well done to all the children and parents who donated on the day.
There will be more events throughout the year as we work towards achieving our sixth flag so keep an eye on the blog for more information and lovely photographs.

The newest edition of wild at school – Winter 23

Yesterday 6th class went to Tomhaggard for the day. With Fr. McDonald as their tour guide, the children were lead on a walking tour of the local area and Fr. McDonald explained items of historical interest along the way. The tour was very informative and enjoyed by all.

We were recently awarded our fifth Green Schools Flag for Biodiversity. We held a day of action where the students were given the opportunity to investigate the flora and fauna in our school. The pupils were busy all day at various active stations such as young scientists, Lucy’s Bees, Superb Herbs, investigating pond life, wildflower trails, Junior and Senior bug hunts and more. Local author Caroline Busher kindly visited our school for the day and spent time with each class focusing on nature and literacy. A great day was had by all. Many thanks to Caroline for sharing her wonderful gift with us all. Enjoy the pictures.

6th class have been working extremely hard on our vegetable garden and have shown 5th class how to sow different vegetables.
5th Class sowed beetroot and carrots and they learned how to make drills to sow the carrots!
Thank you Ms. McCarthy for all your hard work on our fantastic vegetable patch!
