Sing out loud!

Congratulations to all the children in 3rd-6th class who took part in the Sing Out Loud concert on Saturday night.

A great night was had by all who attended the concert and the children really did themselves, their families and their teachers proud. The class teachers would also like to thank all parents and guardians who helped their children to practice the songs over the last few weeks. It really was a community effort and, no doubt, many of you in the audience were able to sing along because you had heard the songs so many times at home!

The Sing Out Loud concert itself received a mention on the RTE 2 news programme for children and can be viewed by clicking on the link below. You may just see yourself!

Wildlife expert visits Marshalstown NS

Recently, the 3rd-6th class children were paid a visit from an Irish wildlife expert, based at the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve.   We learned all about the different types of deer and squirrels in Ireland as well as badgers, bats, pine martens and foxes. We also got to get up close to a real badger, fox and squirrel although we didn’t have to worry about them biting us as they were stuffed animals!! 🙂

The 1798 Rebellion Centre

On Monday the third of November 2014, Fifth and Sixth class visited the National 1798 Rebellion Centre, Enniscorthy. We got a brilliant tour and saw a re-enactment of the battle on Vinegar Hill. We saw and felt the weight of the weapons. We tried on the red coats of the soldiers. We also felt the smallest cannon ball used in the battle. It was only found a few weeks ago and was donated to the centre. We had a great day. The 1798 centre is well worth a visit.

The Art Workshop

On Monday, November 3rd 2014 – 5th & 6th Class went in a trip to the Presentation Centre in Enniscorthy, to do an art workshop with John Busher. John is the father of Fiachra, Caoimhe and Tiernan. We had a chance to do some amazing prints. We learned about shading, etching and printing. Mr. Busher was very interesting to listen to and we enjoyed the workshop.

Halloween Horrors!

Everyone had great fun dressing up for Halloween on the last day before the midterm break. There were some very “interesting” costumes on show.
