Senior Infants are exploring the theme of The Farm during Aistear this week. We are very lucky that our school is in the countryside as we get to see the signs of farming all around us. Today, we noticed that there was a farmer ploughing his field across from the school. We went to have a closer look …just to make sure he was doing it right as we have a few farmers in our class!! 🙂 While we were out and about we also noticed some signs of Spring in our environment, such as the buds on the trees.

Waste not, want not!
3rd and 4th Class recently took part in an Art workshop which focused on recycling paper and cardboard. The children were shown how to transform paper and cardboard into insects, animals and objects from the world around us. Some children made ladybirds, fish, tadpoles and cars. The pieces of Art look fantastic!
Celebrity Close-ups!
3rd and 4th Class recently recycled some old clothes pegs into some well known celebrities and movie characters. Click on the photos for a closer view. Can you spot Lady Gaga and Santa Claus hiding in the crowd?
We’re on a winning streak!
Congratulations to the girls of 5th and 6th Class who won all their matches at the camogie blitz today. We are now through to the next round of both the camogie and football competitions.
Well done girls!
Best of luck to the boys who are also taking part in a hurling blitz this week. We know you will all try your hardest in every game. Let’s hope the luck of the Irish will continue for another few days!
We are the champions!
Congratulations to the boys and girls in 5th and 6th class. Both teams won their mini-7s football blitz matches and are now through to the next stage of the competition. Well done everyone! 🙂
Is it a bird…?
We had a very exciting day in Marshalstown NS on Friday. Some very special visitors “flew” into school-a harris hawk, a barn owl, a tawny owl and a snowy owl. They visited every classroom and every child was able to hold the birds on his or her arm as well!
Click on the photographs below for a “bird’s eye” view of all the action!
First Confession
Best of luck to all the boys and girls in Second Class who are receiving the sacrament of First Confession on Thursday night.
They have been preparing very hard for the occasion and are looking forward to sharing the night with their families, Fr. MacDonald and Miss O’ Shea.
Pancake Tuesday!
Today is Pancake Tuesday and all the children have been very busy making and eating pancakes.
Every class was able to spend some time together in our “kitchen” learning how to make pancakes, cooking them and most importantly, eating them!
Here are some “behind the scenes” pictures from our “kitchen”.
Senior Infants explore The Arctic!
The Senior Infants have been learning all about the Arctic this week. Did you know that polar bears live there? We made our own polar bears in Art. They look very real! Click on the photograph for a closer view…don’t be scared! 🙂
