Friday Fun!

On Friday, we had PE with  PJ and Robbie on the court. We started with the warm up, a jog and then other exercises. We did the kangaroo jump and frog jump. We did the grandfather walk- that was the hardest. Then they picked teams for a match. We started the match and we could only throw the ball with one hand.
Everyone had a great time.

Pancake Tuesday

On Pancake Tuesday all the classes from the junior end to the senior end of Marshalstown NS had pancakes in the Senior Infants room. Ms O`Neill made the pancakes while Gemma, Orlagh and Zoe washed up and put on all the toppings for the anxious waiting children.

The students could choose from sugar, lemon and chocolate spread.

The aroma wafted through the school all day long while the impatient children worked hard for the reward of a pancake with a topping of their choice.

4th and half of 5th had just came back from training in the Community Centre exhausted from the running so it was a nice reward.

The recipe we used was

125g of plain flour

1 egg

300ml of milk

We multiplied it by 3 to make enough batter for a class.

We would like to say thanks to Ms O`Neill for making the pancakes, the three girls that helped and last but not least thanks to the Senior Infants for letting us use their classroom.

Maths problems? Solve it with Lego!

The children in Marshalstown NS have been enjoying their Maths lessons more than usual during the past week. They have been using and developing their problem solving skills through the medium of Lego.

By following a given engineering design, the children are investigating, constructing and working through their observations all while reasoning and thinking critically as the build progresses. At the same time, they are expanding upon their collaborative and co-operative skills by working with a partner.
